A Letter from the President

I am pleased and honored to serve as the 2011 president. As the leading voice of the afterschool profession in North Carolina, we are dedicated to the development, education, and care of children during their out-of-school hours. It is our obligation and mission as providers and advocates of out-of-school time programming to support and promote high quality programs for children across North Carolina.

NCASC is a strong organization that has operated in our state since the early 1990s. We are strong because of the continued dedication of the Board of Directors, Conference Planning Committee and NCASC membership who volunteer, serving at various events without compensation. Not only am I proud of these hardworking individuals, but I am equally proud to serve as President of our general membership who work in the school-age care field each day striving to provide excellent care to children and youth across the state.

Please take the time to browse our website for upcoming trainings in your region, updated conference information, pictures from events, and other relevant information regarding issues and events in the Afterschool profession.

Also, as you continue along your path in Afterschool profession, please reflect on ways in which you can become involved with the North Carolina Afterschool Coalition whether that is serving on the Board of Directors, assisting with planning the annual conference, or becoming a member.

You are the key to making a difference in your community, county, and across the state.

"If only you could sense how important you are
to the lives of those you meet;
how important you can be to people you may never even dream of.
There is something of yourself
that you leave at every meeting with another person."
